  • Excellent Range
Cons
  • The Price Tag is Comparatively High
  • Requires FAA Registration To Fly Outdoors

Let’s start with the unboxing, inside the box you will get the charger, extra propeller blades, a screwdriver, and some user manuals including the DJI Avata Pro-View Combo drone itself.

This simply means that the first-person view goggles are not included in the package and you have to get them by paying extra if you don’t have already a pair.

The DJI Avata Pro-View Combo drone contains an exoskeleton build that includes a 4K camera, internals, and propellers. Despite being rugged and hard the body is still kind of flexible and it also offers protection around all propeller plates.

As expected the battery it is equipped with makes it slightly heavier with a total weight of 162g of the battery alone. We were pleased to find out that you can easily insert or remove the battery so if you want to increase the total flying time you can get an extra pair of batteries and can conveniently replace them.

Charging on the other hand is convenient you just have to connect the flexible charging cable to the designated connector on the drone and insert the charger into the socket. It takes up to 4 hours to be fully charged which is comparatively not too long.

Do remember since the overall weight of this DJI Avata Pro-View Combo drone exceeds the 249 g regulation you have to register it with FAA in order to fly in outdoors.

DJI has done great with the overall design of the DJI Avata Pro-View Combo racing drone because despite being slightly heavy it can still achieve fast speeds owing to its Aerodynamic aesthetics.

2. FPV Goggles

“Stunning High-Quality Visuals”

This DJI Avata Pro Combo racing drone is compatible with DJI Goggles 2 which you have to buy separately since they don’t come in the box included.

But the good thing is that DJI Goggles 2 comes with a motion remote which you don’t have to pay any extra money for. The other components you will get in the box will be a battery pack, a headband, a power cable which is USB- C as well as an OTG cable which you can use to connect your Android or iOS device to the drone to register settings.

Apart from these essential things you will also get a screen protector for free.  As compared to the previous version we have found these DJI Goggles 2 to be more compact.

The antennas of this DJI Goggles 2 can be folded is a feature that was not available in the previous model. The screen protector provided in the box can be easily installed to protect the screen.

The best thing about this DJI Goggles 2 is that it offers an OLED display panel that provides you with 100 FPS views at the resolution of 1080p and the display quality is stunning.

Another important thing here worth mentioning is that it has adjustable diopters. Which makes using this DJI Goggles 2 more convenient for people who have weak eyesight no matter if it is a plus or minus.

The best part is that the kit that comes with this DJI Goggles 2 has fittings according to the prescribed glasses. It seems like DJI thought of everything while designing these Goggles 2 for the convenience of their consumers.

3. Quality & Build of The Goggles

“Best in The Class”

As we have mentioned above that DJI Goggles 2 has been exceptionally improved as compared to their predecessors. If you have already used first-person view glasses before then after using them the first time it will be very hard for you to settle on anything below full HD 1080p resolution.

Since all the other first-person new glasses including DJI’s own previous models doesn’t offer stunning visual display like these. Consumers who have used V1 first-person view goggles can understand better that in comparison to them these new Goggles 2 are like you have moved from analog to full HD resolution.

However on the other hand there are certain downsides and the most important of them is that during our review we noticed after almost 20 minutes of use they do get slightly hotter.

And at that point, you really wish DJI has put a little fan in there. On top of that, the layer of home around the edges is comparatively thin which can make you uncomfortable after wearing it for a long.

You can enable head tracking and other essential features by simply typing on the right side of the DJI Goggles 2. It is a very easy and convenient way to enable or disable these features.

For the people who don’t have any idea about what the head tracking feature does, when you enable this feature Drone movement will be calibrated with your head movement.

Hence Drone will move left or right following the movement when your head is moving and where you are looking. Enabling it is simple you have to swipe down on the right side of DJI Goggles 2 and select the icon of the gyroscope.

4. Motion Controller

“Does it Worth The Hype?”

One of the most anticipated and exciting gadgets that come with this DJI goggles 2 is the motion controller. To be honest when we saw this controller first time we were not really impressed. But after using it we found out how wrong we were.

This motion controller is pretty identical to what you get with the VR headset. Because of this gadget, the first-person view(FPV) goggles equipped DJI Avata Pro drone flying experience reaches another level.

The function we like the most in this motion controller for the DJI Avata Pro is the emergency braking feature. It works great and it enables the drone to abruptly stops in case of an emergency.

The 90-degree frame swing is a great feature but experiencing it in the first-person view goggles is just simply amazing. Using this feature is pretty easy e you just have to release the throttle on your motion controller quickly.

As compared to using this feature on the traditional controller using it on the motion controller is way more convenient and easy. Apart from the feature of an emergency brake, this DJI Avata Pro Drone is also equipped with some other essential features including the back-to-home.

This drone is definitely the best option if you want a first-person view goggles-equipped UAV that can fly at fast speeds if you can afford its high price tag.

You cannot find all of these gadgets and essential features in other Best DJI Drones, especially with the excellent range it provides. Battery backup can also be increased by getting a battery pack if you want.

5. Assitant App

“Essential For Andriod & IOS”

The DJI Assistant 2  application is required for android and iPhone for most of their consumer drones and without it, you cannot connect your smartphone to the drone.

Connecting with Android is simple you just have to download the app from the Play Store or Galaxy Store depending on your smartphone brand.

Install it on the phone follow the instruction and it will connect and collaborate simply with the drone. However on the other hand if you want to connect it with the device that is running Mac then the procedure is different. In order to install the DJI Assistant 2 application on the Mac there are a few additional steps you will need to follow.

Click on the app to open which after installation you will find in the Apple menu, go to the system preferences then select security, and finally click on privacy. An option with the name of general will pop up click on that option.

After doing so so you will have to follow another step that will unlock the panel. By doing so you will see the install app option which will allow you to install it at last.

However, that is not all because now you’ll need to click back from the installer which will open your terminal window. You will have to restart your PC after entering the password and pressing return here.

After the restart now you’ll be able to use the DJI assistant 2 app properly. Do remember to use the USB type c OTG cable which comes in the box and the proper USB wire otherwise you could face failed to connect error.

6. DJI Avata Easy To Fly

“Both For Beginners And Professionals”

As you guys may know that no matter if you want to fly your DJI Avata Pro-View Combo first-person view drone indoors or outdoors, you can control it while flying pretty easily and it stays stable.

After collaborating and assembling all the components you can do a test light indoors to have a feel of it. Also so the DJ I assistant 2 apps will prompt two options Avata indoors and Avata outdoors.

You can select the option according to your surroundings. You can turn on the propellers by simply tapping two times on the motion controller.

If you want it to take off straight upward you can long-press the motion controller. To move left and right you can tilt the motion controller in the desired direction.

Bhai to move the camera upward and downward you can pitch up and down the motion controller. And to move forward and backward you can move your motion controller in the forward or backward directions.

The amazing thing is that when you tilt the camera upward and downward the Drone stays stable hovering in the air. Now it is time to wear the DJI goggles in order to enjoy the full experience.

To make it easy for the consumer’s manufacturer has optimized the OS. In the DJI goggles, you will notice a white circle now keep in mind that Drone will follow the direction wherever that circle will go.

If you are a total beginner no need to worry since after wearing those first-person view glasses and controlling it with the motion controller you will realize how easy it is to fly this drone.

7. Durability of DJI Avata

“Can it Survive Falls & Crashes?”

Unlike the normal consumer drones, the DJI Avata is built strong and rugged but without sacrificing the needed flexibility. For a drone like this being flexible is a requirement to withstand any impact on collusion or racing.

The propellers are housed in a guard and the overall sturdy build enables DJI Avata to keep flying even after taking a bump in any hurdle. During our review, two incidents proved that there’s DJI Avata racing drone is durable and reliable.

The first incident occurred while avoiding the wall ahead the DJI Avata goes to into a steep dive and crashed on the ground.  Upon inspection, we realize that no damage has been done and the Drone is completely good and flyable.

The second incident was a serious one when our DJI Avata drone collided with a big rock hidden in the field while flying at the speed of 48 kph. Although to look at the Drone in a situation like this is the built-in feature known as turtle mode.

But we didn’t want to use it before we measure the level of damage. After expecting we found nothing but a tiny crack on one of the propeller guards.

All the propellers worked fine and we found no internal components damaged or not working We were pretty impressed by the craftsmanship and In all honesty, the DJI Avata completely justifies its price tag.

This DJI Avata is equipped with another safety feature which is if it detects a collision it automatically shuts down the propeller Motors to avoid any further damage.

8. Portability & Range

“Extremely Easy to Carry”

In non-interference environments outdoors the company has claimed the maximum operational range of the Avata Drone to be almost 10 kilometers. Considering the size of this drone the maximum range is more than enough for any consumer.

However, the maximum range of this DJI Avata will depend on region to region according to every country’s rules and regulations.

The maximum range we have mentioned above is specifically for those areas in the USA where you cannot find any Tower for cell phone signals and a power line.

During the review, we found out that while flying the DJI Avata Deep canyons and buildings made out of concrete can impact the maximum flying range.

When you connect the DJI Avata Pro drone with the official app the regional settings will automatically be adjusted. And In all honesty, it is easier and more convenient as compared to doing it manually.

Keep in mind that places where cell phone towers are near don’t try to test the maximum range since it can result in total loss of signal.

However, for that kind of scenario, there are some essential features that can save your drone automatically gets enabled. Now let’s talk about the portability of the DJI Avata Pro drone which is surprisingly excellent.

The whole setup including the drone, first-person view goggles, motion controller, and the battery can be fit into a small photo bag. The best part is you don’t have to carry a separate bag for the first-person view goggles since the screen protector on the display protects it from any kind of scratches.

Conclusion

You can consider buying this drone especially if you are a beginner and you want to practice all those maneuvers confidently and comfortably without worrying about crashing into something.

Despite its small size, this DJI Avata Pro-View Combo is extremely stable and you can control it conveniently even if it is only inches away from the floor.
